MEXMUR – Yesterday evening, on the 19th, the youth of Mexmur, led by the Union of Free Students (YXA), lit the Newroz fire in the Refugee Camp of Mexmur. Hundreds of young people from the MexmurRefugee Camp held a torchlight procession in front of Martyr Koçerin’s Amadei building to welcome Newroz 2023.
The people of Mexmur participated in the march with great enthusiasm by removing photos of Leader Apo and chanting the slogans “Long live Leader Apo, Happy New Year to Leader Apo”. The march in front of Mount Qareçox of the camp turned into a rally. After a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs, a speech was made on behalf of the Free Owners Union (YXA) Delil Kaya. In his speech, Delil drew attention to the nature of the Newroz fire, which became a symbol of resistance for the Kurdish people. The event ended with the lighting of the Newroz fire, dancing and joy.
